The Waukee Public Library building will be closed effective immediately out of consideration of the health of our community. If you have materials due, please hold onto them until the library reopens. Due dates are being extended, even if you previously received an overdue reminder. All fines and due dates will be suspended. There is no need to contact us to renew items, they will be automatically renewed. Waukee Public Library Services

Starting June 1st the Waukee Public Library will start offering a curbside pickup service and will accept returns. The library will continue to be closed to the public at this time.

 

No-Contact Curbside Pickup Service  – Available Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the library’s front entrance.
Placing Holds

Limit 10 hold requests per library card. Hold requests for this service will be limited to books, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines. Hold requests for items can be placed online, through the Library’s website at www.waukeepubliclibrary.org. Patrons can also call the Waukee Public Library for personal assistance in reserving items at (515) 978-7944.
 

Pickup Notification

Patrons must schedule pickup times in advance and will be contacted to schedule a pickup of items that have been put on hold. Hold items will be checked out to the patron’s card and placed in a bag.
 

Pickup Location

Patrons will pull up to the designated parking space at the library entrance and open trunk. Library staff will ask for name or will identify car make and model from reservation. Please help us by putting a piece of paper with your last name on your windshield.
 

Returns

Please return your items to the bins at the front entrance. Our parking lot is currently under construction and the book drop remains closed at this time. Returned items will be checked in after at least 72 hours of quarantine.

 
Due Dates and Payments

Due dates on all materials have been extended until July 1st, without fines. Payments for other patron charges or services may be paid by card online via the library website.

 

Library Programs

Online public program schedules will continue to temporarily replace in-person programs and activities until social distancing requirements support expansion of group meeting sizes in accordance with recommendations of public health officials. Online programs can be found on the library’s website or Facebook page. Regular library programs and activities will gradually resume in phases, based on social distancing and meeting size requirements set by public health officials.
 

Summer Reading Program

Our Summer Reading Program will be online this year. Registration, activities, and performances will be recorded and available online. Visit Facebook or waukeepubliclibrary.org/summer for more information on the 2020 Summer Reading Program.
 

Digital Collections and Online Databases

A robust collection of digital materials, ebooks, e-magazines, and research databases can be accessed remotely via the library website. 


Other Library Services

Public meeting rooms, study rooms, outreach visits, museums, and public computer, copier, and fax are unavailable to the public until further notice.

Digital library cards are available through the website, if you need a card to check out physical items, please call 515-978-7944 for assistance. All Waukee students have access to online resources by using their student ID number. Please visit our Digital Scholar page for more details.
