They are great for multi-generational families, friends wanting to travel together, and also have lots of accommodations for older clientele. Travel agent Victoria Ogier will discuss the different types of cruises and share different itineraries including: River Cruising, Alaska, the Bahamas, Europe, and more.

June 7th at 11 am – Burying the Lede: The Truth and Fiction of News Reporting and Criminal Justice

Iowa native and author Joseph LeValley will share some of his real-life experiences as a reporter-photographer for Iowa newspapers, covering crime and the criminal justice system. He will describe encounters and relationships with law enforcement, criminals and the courts. LeValley also will describe how his years as a reporter, and the cases he covered, inspired him to write his debut novel, Burying the Lede – a story of murder, corruption, deception and the pursuit of the truth by a young reporter.

August 2nd at 11 am –Historical Highlights of the Iowa State Fair

The internationally-acclaimed Iowa State Fair is the single largest event in the state of Iowa and one of the oldest and largest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country. In this fascinating presentation, Iowa State Fair CEO Gary Slater will take you on a journey through the Fair’s history—from its beginnings back in 1854 to current happenings in 2019. Gary will also share some of his favorite stories about the Fair and show some historic photos from the fair archives.
