Pickups

Step 1 -   Place Holds

Use our online catalog or call to find items that are available and place them on hold. Limit 10 hold requests per library card. Choose which location you would like to pick up your items. *Hotspots and steam kits will only be available for curbside pickup.

 

Ways to make hold requests:

Online Catalog

Explore our materials in the online catalog and place a hold on any item you wish to receive.

Login using your library card number. The PIN is your 8 digit birthdate.

Phone

Call (515) 978-7944  and Library staff will place items on hold for you. Holds are filled in the order they are received. 

 

Step 2 -   For Curbside Pick Up Schedule an Appointment

When your holds are ready you will be notified by email, text, or phone to schedule your pickup day and time.

 

 

 

Step 3 -  Pickup Your Items

Lobby Pick Up

When your holds are ready you will be notified by email, text, or phone. Your items will be located in the self-service hold area. These items will need to be checked out before leaving the library. You may use one of the many self-service kiosks, or a staff member can assist you at the circulation desk. Please remember to bring in your library card or photo ID for check out. 

 

Curbside Pick Up

Pull up to the designated pick up area at the south side of the building. Library staff will ask for your name or will identify your car from the reservation.

 

Returns

The book drops on the south side of the library are now open. Returns can be made there at any time. Oversized items that do not fit in the book drop need to be returned during the curbside pickup hours of Monday-Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm. Items should be placed on the oversized returns cart located near the book drop.

Curbside FAQs

 

General

• Curbside pickup service is available for library materials including books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, hotspots, and STEAM kits.

• No fines are being assessed at this time.

 

Reopening

• The library has a multi-phase plan for reopening based on federal reopening guidelines. We are currently open to the public with limited hours and services via Library Express.

 

Returns

•  The book drops on the south side of the library are now open. Returns can be made there at any time.

•  Oversized items that do not fit in the book drop need to be returned during the curbside pickup hours of Monday-Friday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. Items should be placed on the oversized returns cart located near the book drop.

•  No fines are being assessed at this time. 

 

Getting a Library Card

• You can create a digital library card on our website.

• If you would like to be able to check out items, you will first need to create a digital library card. Once you do that, let us know and we can upgrade your digital card to a temporary card. The temporary card will allow you to continue to use digital resources as well as check out 5 items at a time. We will send you your new library card number via email and mail.

• You can stop by the circulation desk and one of our librarians can help you sign up for a library card.

 

Donations

• The library is not accepting book, DVD, or magazine donations at this time.

• We are not accepting donations of craft supplies or envelopes at this time.

 

Parking Lot

• The library is currently undergoing a parking lot project which will double the number of parking spots. The parking lot project will last into the fall.

 

Adventure Pass

• At this time, we have suspended Adventure Pass. Unfortunately, new processes for booking passes were too staff intensive for us as we work to establish our Curbside service. We hope to resume this service in the near future.
