1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a Library program that encourages all families and caregivers to read 1,000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten.

Studies have shown that families who start reading aloud to their children at birth help to strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary – two important tools for beginning to learn to read when they enter kindergarten.

We are happy to add curbside pick-up for your 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten prizes! Due to current safety protocols, staff may need 1-2 business days (Mon.-Fri.) of advanced notice to prepare your prizes. You can call the library at 978-7944, Mon.-Fri. from 10am-6pm  or 10:30am-2pm on Sat. to schedule your curbside prize pick-up.

Please note that some prizes might be slightly altered to better fit our safety procedures for Covid-19. For example, graduates will now receive a paper graduation hat to keep, as they can't currently pose in our cap and gown. You may also wait to collect your prizes in person in the future; however, we do not have a set date for that at this time.
